New package to boost employment and exports in India's Textile sector
India is well known for its original and traditional textile and apparel. The Textile sector is forecasted to reach $223 billion by 2021. The industry already employs 105 million people directly and indirectly and will probably create an additional 50 million jobs by 2025. The production of man-made fibre has seen an upward trend since 2009. Textile exports are one of the main revenue generators accounting for 11% of the country's exports.
