Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India has announced the proposals for mandatory BIS certification for few more chemical products in the last month on 15th April 2021. This would require domestic and international manufacturers to register themselves with the Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS). Additionally, they have to acquire licenses to manufacture, sell, and supply chemical products in India.
The product includes different kind of Polyester Yarn, Polyethylene materials, Styrene, etc. detailed below:

As per the Quality Control Order (QCO), the above-mentioned products, would not be available for import into India after the 14th of October 2021 (i.e. after 180 days from the date of issue of QCO) unless the Manufacturer has obtained a license from the Bureau of India Standard.
This is a call for action by the international Chemical Manufacturers interested in selling their products in India. By recognizing that BIS may be a challenging obstacle for international manufacturers, Maier+Vidorno is willing to assist interested suppliers. BIS has been operating a Foreign Manufacturer’s Certification Scheme (FMCS) since the year 2000. It was under BIS Act and Rules and Regulations framed thereunder. Under FMCS license is granted to a Foreign Manufacturer for use of Standard Mark on a product that confirms to an Indian Standard.
