He argues that an increase in productivity will help the economy grow and subsequently, create more jobs. Executive VP and head, Digital Factory, Siemens India, Ashish Bhat also feels factory automation, digitalization, and product lifecycle management are key factors of Industry 4.0 and are important for the progress in manufacturing.

Schneider Electric, a French global Industrial Automation company is planning to expand in India by increasing its portfolio of products, solutions and services. The company believes that automation will be a high growth sector in India. The ‘Make in India’ program will require Industry 4.0 (a framework of new technologies), which is based on industrial automation, smart equipment and intelligent manufacturing in order to develop India as a manufacturing destination. Innovation and automation will be required for competing with global quality standards while making the manufacturing process more efficient and cost effective

In a recent collaboration between India and UK on advanced manufacturing, both countries jointly took the initiative for scientific and technological advancements.  Advanced manufacturing includes innovative products and new processes. The main focus of this collaboration were automation, modern sensors for manufacturing, standards, material design, and sustainable manufacturing. The Confederation of India Industry (CII) believes that India must have a strong business ecosystem to develop its advanced manufacturing sector and partnership with UK will play as a catalyst for growth of the Automation Sector.

The Robotics Industry in India is also opening up a plethora of opportunities for students, entrepreneurs and researchers. There is an increasing adaptation robotics in various sectors – Automotive, Pharmaceutical, Digital Printing, Textile, Logistics, and many more.
